Auction-led advertising slots
The FIRST BLOG in the world to hold such an Auction!
What to bid for?
- There are five advertisement slots B1, B2, B3, B4 and B5.
- B1, B2 and B3 are all equally sized (468 pixels x 60 pixels).
- B4 and B5 are same sized (120 pixels x 600 pixels).
- Please refer to the pic above which shows the placement of these ad slots. Click on the pic to enlarge it.
- All these ad slots will appear on every page of my blog.
- All these five ad slots are up for bidding through auction.
- Every participating company/advertiser/investor/bidder will have to deposit a token amount of USD 500 to confirm its participation. This is just to deter bogus entries.
- The entire USD 500 will be refunded in case you decide to withdraw from the auction, or you are eliminated from the auction.
- This amount will not be refunded in case you happen to be one of the winners at the conclusion of the auction. Instead, the entire USD 500 will get adjusted against your final bid amount.
- The auction will commence on Monday 11th Feb 2008.
- To participate in the auction process, send an email to storybrewer@gmail.com with the subject line 'Auction Participation'.
- Do mention the company name also in your email.
- There have to be at least 6 bidders to begin the auction process.
- Round 1: Each bidder will bid on only one of the ad slots of its choice. Minimum starting bid has to be at least USD 500. For example: X can bid on only any one of B1, B2, B3, B4, or B5.
- To remain in the auction, a bidder must be ACTIVE in every subsequent round.
- An active bidder either holds the top bid on a particular ad slot, or else raises the bid on an ad slot of its choice by at least the minimum bid increment. This newly chosen ad slot has to be different from the last one you bid for. For example, 10 participants bid differently on B1 in the first round. Amongst these, X happens to have the highest bid of USD 1000. So X is an active bidder. Y happens to be one of the remaining 9 participants, and he bid USD 850. To remain active, Y will increase his bid by at least the minimum increment and bid on only any one of B2, B3, B4, or B5.
- A bidder who currently holds the top bid on an ad slot cannot raise or withdraw its bid, nor bid on another ad slot in the current round. It automatically advances to the next round.
- At the end of every round all bidders’ bids will be revealed, the current top bidder for each ad slot will be determined, and minimum bid increments will be set for the next round.
- Any bidder who fails to meet the above stated criteria will be eliminated from the auction.
- Any bidder can withdraw at any round during the auction provided it was not the top bidder for any ad slot in that round.
- As such there will be multiple rounds and the auction will conclude when only 5 bidders will remain. They will each be then allocated the ad slot on which they would be the current top bidder at the price they would have last bid for that ad slot.
- The final five bidders will be allowed to put up their advertisements/banners in their respective ad slots from the final round, and will be charged a price that they would have had bid in the final round.
- These advertisements will appear on my blog for 3 years initially.
- The final five bidders will be allowed to change their advertisement/banner/logo every three months.
Fixed-cost advertising slots
- There are six fixed-cost advertising slots F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 and F6. Please refer to the pic above which shows the positioning of these ad slots. Click on the pic to enlarge it.
- All are equally priced at USD 3000 each.
- You can buy only one fixed-cost ad slot. It could be any one of F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 and F6.
- You cannot participate in the auction if you have bought any fixed-cost ad slot.
- If you decide to withdraw from the auction or you get eliminated in any round, then you can buy any fixed-cost ad slot provided it is available by then.
- These advertisements will appear on my blog for 3 years initially.
- Advertisement/banner/logo submitted once will be there for all the three years. They will not be changed once submitted.
- To buy any of these fixed-cost ad slots, send an email to storybrewer@gmail.com.

Where there is a will, there is a way!
Even if you don't get the $100k I'm sure you can use whatever money you get and fill the rest with the loan.. Think that must be your plan already.
All the best.
